*mini-rant*
I don’t know these soldiers, and I certainly don’t mean them ANY disrespect. But this is a fine example of how to get yourself killed in Afghanistan, if you think this is how to “secure an area”. A young boy with a wheelbarrow might seem innocent enough, until it turns out he’s hiding an artillery shell in that wheelbarrow, and suddenly that’s two more soldiers never coming home.
I’m not saying they should’ve shot the boy, of course, but letting him walk up to them and right through their “secure” perimeter was incredibly foolish, and these men are very lucky.
